Cambodian National Assembly Approves New Members in Government

The National Assembly of Cambodia on May 27 voted to support an additional eleven members in the government according to the request of appointment from Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen told the lawmakers of the National Assembly before the national assembly’s approval that the request of the new appointments of the government members is necessary for helping work in the government. They have ability and huge responsibility for their work and help to implement the governmental policy, he said.
87 of 108 lawmakers who attended the parliament session voted to support the new members of the government. According to the list from the government, Chheang Yanara, currently secretary general of the council of development of Cambodia (CDC) was appointed as Minister attached Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Yuth Phou Thong was appointed as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Bun Sambo, Personal Interpreter for Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen was appointed as Secretary of State for the Council of Ministers, and Sokhom Pheakvanmoni, former Director General of the Royal Railway Station was appointed as Secretary of State for the Ministry of the Public Works and Transport, and Sean Borat, Personal Adviser of Education for Samdech Techo Hun Sen was appointed as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Education, Youth and sport, Soeung Roathchavy, Director General of ASEAN General Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation was appointed as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ngy Tayi, Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Economy and Finance was appointed as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Hang Choun Narong, Secretary General for the Ministry of Economy and Finance was appointed as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Thea Kruy was appointed as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Health, Tom Sambol was appointed Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defense replaced Hun Phoeung, Secretary of State for the Ministry of National Defense who terminated his duty, and Tan Vutha was appointed as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation replaced Hak Savuth who appointed for new duty. Currently, Cambodian government has about 400 members in the cabinet with classification from Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, Senior Ministers, Ministers, Secretaries of State, and Under Secretary of State in 24 ministries that led one minister and two secretariats of state. The members of government has duties to assist the work of the government that needs the capacity of human resources for developing the country with setting up the second phase of rectangular policy for fourth mandate.
In a separate case, on May 27, the national assembly also voted to back H.E Min Sean, a member of the National Assembly of Cambodia as the new member for nine years term (2010-2019) in the supreme constitutional council to replace Top Som who ended his term. King Norodom Sihamoni also appointed Prince Norodom Sirivudh as a new member of the supreme constitutional council. Prince Norodom Sirivudh is half-brother of former King Norodom Sihanouk and Prince Norodom Sirivudh also is uncle of King Norodom Sihamoni. ///
