France provides aid to restore Angkorian Empire’s Baphoun Temple












France on Tuesday provided the additional aid of 480,000 EURO to Cambodian government to restore and maintain the Angkorian Empire’s Baphoun temple in Angkor wat temple compound in Siem Reap province.
The agreement was signed by Sun Sapheon, secretary of state for foreign ministry and French ambassador to Cambodia, Jean-François DESMAZIERES at Cambodia’s Foreign Ministry this morning.
“n total, we has helped 7.8 million euro to restore Baphoun temple for 15 years and it has started since 1995, and the far eastern school (EFEO in French) has worked as implementing agency in cooperation with Cambodian experts,” French ambassador said.
“We thanked to French side that continued to help restoring Cambodian ancient temples,” sun said. The ancient temple is one of the symbols of Khmer architecture and cultures.
