PM Hun Sen opens South Korean Culture Center

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Tuesday opened officially the South Korean Culture and trade center located near National assembly House Building.

“This center will guarantee more confidence for South Korean investors to invest here and it will help tell about ancient Khmer and South Korean traditions and culture,” Primer Hun Sen said in opening ceremony which attended from governmental officials, businesspeople and South Korean ambassador here. It will play as model one and main gate to provide the information and tourism, climate of investment of Cambodia for South Korea businesspeople and culture ties,” he noted.

South Korea investors and tourists played a key role for economic growth and we hoped that from this center will help to urge more South Korean business people to invest here and promote tourism industry,” he noted.

Its official name: Phnom Penh -Daegu, gyeongbuk culture, tourism, and trade promotion center and it cost over 8.7 million US dollar from South Korea and Phnom Penh authorities provided the land plot to build it. It is in dedication to close friendship and solidarity between the South Korea and Cambodia.

It happened while former South Korean president who visited here in 2006 and it continued the ties by current president Mr Lee. Cambodia and South Korea expanded the close diplomatic ties in the few years but it gained huge benefits.

Last year, Cambodia signed the ASEAN trade agreement to expand more trade and investment between the two partners.

Cambodia got 1.9 million for 11 months of 2009 increasing 1.6 per cent if comparing with same period of last year, he noted and it also has large number of South Korean tourist contribution from this figure. Even thought Pm Hun Sen did not reveal the trade volume between the two countries for this year.
